Archie Lewis-Harris is a composer and music professional. A valued collaborator with an extensive creative and technical background, he is determined to bring his moving and aesthetic scores, exceptional insight, efficient problem-solving ability, and fervent leadership skills to projects. He works with immense diligence and commitment, and is hungry to learn and grow his knowledge and experience.
Films Archie has scored have been recognized at film festivals such as the Woodstock Film Festival, Dances With Films NYC, The NY New Filmmakers Film Festival, The Indie Short Fest in LA, The Toronto Film & Script Awards, Quinnipiac University “The Quinnies,” San Francisco Arthouse Short Festival, Rotterdam Independent Film Festival, The Film Collective Short Film Festival, The Austin Film Festival, The Shakespeare Shorts Film Festival, The Williamsburg Film Festival, The Hip Hop Film Festival NYC, The Global Climate Film Festival, the NYU Sports film festival, and the NYU Tisch and NYU Global Health’s Critical Life-Saving Communications Program.
As well as the selected credits that are released films, Archie has scored two feature-length films: One More Weekend directed by Jack Diaz, and Good Friday directed by Jason Mendoza (Official Selection for Dances With Films NYC and the Hip Hop Film Festival NYC). He has also worked a major part of post-production for the short film Rooms With a View directed by Maya Baron (credited as Sound Designer, Sound Editor, ADR Recordist, Dialogue Editor, Music Editor, and Co-writer for a featured song). And for NYU he also massively contributed to the joint presentation with Carnegie Hall of Der Golem: as a co-composer of the original score to the silent film, as well as the copyist and Pro Tools engineer. Archie worked closely with seven other student composers to craft the extensive and intricate original score, complete with cohesive motivic and orchestrational content. He also worked closely with the conductor and players—who performed the score live to the picture in three performances—to help create, revise, and edit the full score and parts. Lastly, Archie observed the entire rehearsal process for any issues or errors, and produced the final click track that the ensemble would perform the score to.
In addition to composing for film, Archie has composed the original score for several live theater productions, composed many independent works, and has collaborated to write several songs, some of them being the released Stolen Love and Rooms With a View, with Donna Lewis. Both of which he participated in the recording and producing process in the studio.
As a musician, Archie is a classically trained pianist and clarinetist, who has played in a number of ensembles including several acclaimed New York State and regional orchestras.
Archie is deeply passionate about both learning and involvement with music technology and the recording, mixing, and producing process. In NYU he has done music editing work for other composers and set up Pro Tools sessions for recording sessions. Over the past few summers, he interned at the Clubhouse Recording Studio, and helped out in the Sun Mountain Studio both in upstate New York. There he set up the studio for recording sessions as well as engineered. He also was an assistant to guitarist and composer David Torn on Carter Burwell's recording session for the film To Catch a Killer (2023) at the Power Station studio in New York city, in which David was playing on. In addition, he is a passionate mixer who has studied with several professional mixers including Grammy Award-winning Kevin Killen.
When not writing, playing, or recording music, Archie is passionate about acting, both on and off the screen; and crewing on film sets. He also enjoys playing tennis in his free time.
